The Homeless Storage Project needs a new host!
The Homeless Storage Project is in need of a host who can provide the use of a storage closet along with the use of a building entrance for regularly scheduled one-hour periods during the week.
Details.
We must vacate Pres House by December 2006 due to renovation.
We need a place to store bags (currently we store them in a 9' by 5' closet) and an entryway where we can set up a table during select 1-hour periods each week (currently we open Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30-9:30am and 5-6pm).
Most volunteers are UW students. At this point we have not been successful in finding a church near the university that has space to offer us.
We wish to maintain a good relationship with our host. With respect to public relations with our clients, our host will probably want to maintain a strict and clearly defined separation from our project, particularly if they have administrative staff and other things going on in their building during the week. Nevertheless, I expect that a potential host will be more interested in hosting us if they have some sympathy for our project and can view our work as in some sense advancing their own purposes.
