A Christian community
Summary: I dream of belonging to an ecumenical Christian
community which seeks to love and honor God by extending His
care to the world around us. A mission of the community would
be to support basic institutions and services that foster
fruitful community and cultural life. For example, educational
institutions (e.g. a school/college or a retreat center).
Economic institutions (e.g. a food co-op, a garden/farm, or
a hostel) which provide meaningful employment for a range
of abilities, and which link together the surrounding local
community and shape its life in the physical world. Social
services that bring weaker members of our society into a
community and give them a complete way of life. The community
could form an environment which helps families raise and
enculturate children, helps elderly people bring their lives to
fruition, and provides disconnected, destitute, and disabled
people with suitable employment, mentoring relationships, and
something to belong to.
