Spent some time putting some pictures into the diary. This takes much longer than I would like, and certainly longer than I expect.

Spent much of the day reading the AML code on my machine and looking things up in the ACPI standard. This takes an inordinate amount of time because the ACPI standard is so poorly written and organized.

Ate supper (first meal of the day) at the Educatorium. I had a pastry filled with "mexican vegetables" -- I'm not sure what made them mexican except that they were somewhat spiced.

Got restless in the evening and wanted to go out driving, so we headed North-by-North-West (no, not the movie) and ended up driving across a dike many miles long. We then came down on Amsterdam from the North, seeing lots and lots of glowing tulip fields on the way. (I think they really must glow under these thick clouds; I seem to recall seeing tulips fluoresce under ultraviolet light and I wonder if it is a little bit of fluorescence that makes them seem to glow or if it is just that they are the only elements of bright color in a brown, green, and grey landscape...)

When we finally got back to Utrecht, managed to get lost somewhere in the city where construction got in the way of progress and trapped us behind what looked like a one-way road. I searched diligently for other outlets before quickly nipping out by the only possible way, hoping that I wasn't breaking the law in the process. Got lost again and headed out towards De Bilt, but fortunately we had gone towards De Bilt from De Uithof and so expected and found signs telling us where to turn to get back to De Uithof. That mostly solved the restlessness problem.
