The Bottom Line on Aging

  • Performance degrades over time
  • even when capacity does not.
  • Loss of judgment is unusual but important
  • To be a soaring community means
  • helping each other assess our skills, and
  • Taking personal responsibility to
  • accept the inevitable and
  • adjust appropriately to it.

    Notes:

We need to be ready to be found wrong; ready to be found to need improvement; ready to discover loss of ability.

We need to adjust realistically to physical change (the brain is a physical object).

We need to take personal responsibility for checks on our ability, for recurrency training, and for continued practice.

And we need to take responsibility for each other: this is what creates a community.
