Note the white corners, the high soffits under which are small horizontal
windows, the lap board running in two directions, the paired window under
the gable, and the ancient roof antenna. Not to mention the birch trees...

Farmer at Seipajarvi, Finland. The frame is enclosed in chicken wire to keep the birds away. hanging inside are strips of salted reindeer and beef. These are left outside to freeze dry for six weeks.
this meat has been outside for a month. The farmer is getting a small piece of beef for us to taste. It was pretty good; we took it with us and shaved thin pieces off it: beef chips. March 12, 2002
