Mount Inglismaldie (2963m/9722ft) in the evening sun, across Lake Minnewanka (1480m/4854). Doing the arithmetic, the peak is not quite a mile above the lake. It's a natural lake, augmented significantly by a dam that was built during WWII, when electrical power was of course crucial for the defense of this vulnerable region, after laws protecting the environment had been suspended for the duration of the conflict.

Mount Inglismaldie -- is there any doubt Banff was settled by Scots? -- basks in a transient shaft of sun on a rainy day across Lake Minnewanka.

In case you had any idea this is a pristine wilderness area, untrammeled by motors or the noisome fragrance of Benzene Incense, let me show you the dock on the shore of Lake Minnewanka. Cascade Mountain is at the back.
