A building in the Mala Strana district of Prague. No, I don't know its name. It's just that the sky was nice and the sun struck the building well and I was holding a functioning camera. July 9, 2004; 1:30pm

The architect's mistress wanted a perch from which to command the street, I surmise.

This is a magnificently unattractive building. I'm not sure how to label the style; 19th-century eclectic?

The Smetana Museum is on the east bank of the Vltava, just south of the Charles Bridge. The river runs in channels beneath the building, probably for mill power.

The building at the north end of the street as we were about to go into a theater, limned by the low sun.

This building is listed in my guidebook as being a synagogue; at any rate it's next door to one, and rather defines "ornate." It's as strong as limburger cheese, and to me it's delightful.

Lovely baroqueJewish synogogue at the NE corner of the Jewish Quarter, Prague.

We were out of time and at the edge of our little map. This fantastic building loomed tantalizing in the distance. But we didn't know which tram to take, and we were due back. My map says that it's the Promyslovy Palac in Vystaviste. On the map this looks like possibly a wonderful park and athletic facility. July 14, 2004, Prague.
