A cap cloud over the Inian Islands.

The Inian Islands, July 8, 2003, from the NE.
Humid onshore flow has been lifted by the islands and cap clouds have formed on
the islands and between them, trailing down and evaporating on the leeward side.
The color variation in the sea is due to colliding tidal flows. The wind is about 30 kt
out of the west (from R to L in the photo). If you could fly through these clouds, you'd
be lifted briskly upward to the top of the hill, then plunged downward toward the sea
on the lee side.
